It all started when…
Lawrence Yasner was commuting to Staten Island with the Berkeley Carroll tennis team—a school located in Park Slope, Brooklyn. The travel time was long and he realized there must be a better way to make the game accessible in metro areas.
Considering Lawrence's background— he has taught elementary school physical education in Brooklyn for a decade and holds a Master's Degree in Education—he was ready to tackle the problem by teaching tennis in unconventional spaces such as parks, gymnasiums, and schools.
Lion Tennis started with just one coach, but today has many USPTR certified instructors who are physical education teachers, collegiate players and early childhood educators. Our coaches are seasoned tennis professionals, experienced in teaching children, and fully vetted with background checks.
We use positive reinforcement to create a fun and welcoming environment that fosters growth and collaboration. We teach tennis skills while having a ton of FUN!
